Meet Dr. Cowherd of Walnut Creek Family Dentistry

Dr. Christopher T. Cowherd considers it a privilege to serve his patients here at Walnut Creek Family Dentistry. He was born and raised in Bettendorf, Iowa. As an undergraduate at the University of Iowa, he graduated with honors in Exercise Science. He later graduated from the University of Iowa with a doctorate in dental surgery. While in dental school, Dr. Cowherd was awarded student of the year for Special Care and Geriatric Dentistry. Since then, he has had a wide range of experiences, including in community health, private practice, and teaching at the University of Iowa.

In practice for over 15 years now, Dr. Cowherd offers innovative, comfortable, and personalized care to children, teens, adults, and the geriatric population. He provides general dental care but also has extensive training and experience with geriatrics, operative dentistry, and implant dentistry. Dr. Cowherd keeps up with the latest developments in dental science, and he regularly excites our team by introducing new tools and technology. He takes great pride in making our patients comfortable and educating them about their oral health. He believes in working with specialists in the community to make sure every patient’s needs are realized.

Dr. Cowherd is a proud member of the American Dental Association and the Iowa Dental Association. He has studied extensively at the prestigious Frank Spears campus and is a member of the G.V. Black Study Club and the Central Iowa Study Club. Dr. Cowherd is the husband of Lindsey Meder, and they are parents of two children ‐ Madeleine and Winnie. They attend St. Francis Church of Assisi in West Des Moines. In his spare time, Dr. Cowherd enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends, as well as reading, running, and coaching his children and friends in sports and volunteering at their school. He loves all sports and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.
